Transfer and Contextual Connections

Outcome

  • Through reflection, students identify what they learned in the project and how those skills can transfer beyond the classroom.
  • They consider how genre awareness, audience adaptation, and rhetorical decision-making apply in other contexts.

Where It’s Practiced

  • Literacy Narrative – students practice transfer through the reflection and remediation process, where they adapt a narrative into a new medium and consider how those strategies could apply beyond the classroom.
  • Observation and Value Analysis – Students examine how writing works in real communities, helping them connect classroom genre knowledge to everyday contexts.
  • Making Change – Students apply rhetorical strategies and adapt writing while working with others, practicing transfer in shared, real-world composing situations.
  • Overview Reflection

What It Looks Like

Students explain how the skills practiced in the project, such as audience awareness and genre adaptation, can be applied to future academic, professional, or digital writing contexts.

Why It Matters

This matters because recognizing transfer helps students apply rhetorical skills beyond a single assignment or course.
